What is RCS messaging?

RCS stands for Rich Communication Services, an advanced type of SMS text. Like SMS, RCS texts are sent via mobile network providers such as O2 and EE at no extra cost to the recipient. Unlike SMS messages, which are limited to 160 characters, RCS messages are unlimited and can include media like images, files, and videos. Additionally, there are added security layers, and businesses must be verified by Google to send RCS messages, ensuring your customers can trust your messages and brand.

Why is RCS suddenly so popular?

Apple has announced it will be adopting RCS technology later this year. Historically, only Android phones (around 50% of the world's handsets) have been able to receive RCS messages). With Android and Apple now RCS compatible, virtually all handsets globally can now natively receive RCS messages to handsets.

On top of this, customer interactions with RCS messages have skyrocketed in past campaigns run by our customers.

In our academy, we'll explain why this can be so impactful for engagement rates & ROI!
